The technique is very simple as the user has to install a plug-in called WOT (Web of Trust) in their web browser by visiting the official WOT page "www.mywot.com". WOT is the most popular add-on lunched in 2007 which helps the user to find the legit as well as scam websites from the experience of millions of users worldwide. It is free to use for everyone for every time. So to install here are the steps to install WOT extension.



⇒ Go to the browser. I am using here chrome browser as demo.
⇒ Write chrome://extensions in the URL field.
⇒ Hit enter.

⇒ Click on "Get more extensions"

⇒ Type "wot" in the text area. 

⇒ Click on "Add to Chrome" button.

⇒ After downloading a small window pops up. click on "Add extension".  

⇒ After clicking on add extension the wot will install in the web browser. 

             Now, it is time to know the method of checking the website reputation. After installing WOT to a particular web browser you will find a ring like structure icon appearing on the browser toolbar and that is the WOT extension. 

If the ring glows green this means that the website is legitimate and excellent in providing services. If the ring glows yellow that means that the website is scam, suspicious or poor customer experience. And if you find a warning message pop-ups on the screen before loading a particular website, this indicates that the WOT extension prevents you to enter to that website which is dangerous, potentially illegal and very poor visitor's experience. You can also visit that website by clicking 'Go to the site' button on that message or you can ignore it just by clicking 'go back' button. You can also view the website reputation by simply clicking at the WOT icon right on the toolbar.
